Networking isn’t easy. Even at an official networking event organized by a chamber of commerce or a professional society it can be difficult to know what to say and do when you encounter someone new.
And yet, we all recognize that being in relationships with others is essential to our life and our career. Outside of these large mixers, where else can you meet people? In theory you can make new contacts at the grocery store, the airport, or in the elevator, but in practice it is can be even harder to meet people in these places. Usually we stay silent—but the person who might change our life could be the stranger right next to us!
